HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's hockey team was defeated by Brown, 3-2, in ECAC Hockey and Ivy League action on Friday evening at Thompson Arena.
Dartmouth falls to 3-17-3, 2-12-2, while Brown improves to 6-16-1, 6-10-1. The Big Green are now 0-6-1 in Ivy League play this season. The Bears move to 5-5.
Sean Chisholm scored his sixth goal of the season while
Jeff Losurdo scored his fifth.
Tanner Palocsik now has the team-lead in assists after getting his ninth of the season tonight.
Brown opened the scoring inside the opening four minutes. After forcing a turnover in the Dartmouth defensive zone, Michael Maloney was able to redirect a pass into the back of the net to give Brown a 1-0 lead.
It was back and forth for the remainder of the period with the Big Green killing off two power plays.
The Bears added another one shortly into the second period when Jordan Tonelli shifted through the Dartmouth defense and fired one past
Clay Stevenson.
The Big Green answered quickly as
Mark Gallant made a pass along the boards to a streaking
Sean Chisholm, who carried the puck down the ice and ripped one off the pipe into the back of the net to cut into the deficit.
Dartmouth kept the momentum going in the next few minutes with great looks at goal but were fended off by Mathieu Caron.
Brown scored a third with just under five minutes remaining in the second. After a blue line turnover from the Big Green, Thomas Manty was able to get a clean shot towards goal to put the Bears up 3-1.
The Big Green grabbed one back on the power play with 14:15 remaining in the third period.
Tanner Palocsik played the puck across to
Nick Unruh, who made a perfect pass to the middle to
Jeff Losurdo. Losurdo calmly buried the puck to the right side of the net for his fifth goal of the season and the team's 11
th power play goal.
Looking for the equalizer, the Big Green pulled Stevenson with just a few minutes remaining. Dartmouth had some great chances in the final minutes but could not find the tying goal.
Dartmouth is back in action tomorrow evening at 8 pm when they host Yale. The game will be live on NESN+ as well as ESPN+.
