Rugby Kicks off Spring at Crimson 7s Tournament

The Big Green went 4-1 on the A side and 2-1 on the B side
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dartmouth women's rugby played its first 7s tournament since 2019 on Saturday, taking part in the Crimson 7s Tournament. The Green team (competitive) placed third by going 4-1, while Black (development) went 2-1.
A few players scored points in their 7s debuts: Allie Amerson, Kyla Widodo, Ella Gates and Adrienne Coleman were integral in the Big Green's success throughout the day.
On the A side, Abbey Savin had a total of 34 points from four tries and seven conversions. In the development games, Nicole Ihensekhien and Amerson scored in all three games.
"Today was a great day of 7s, our first since 2019," head coach Katie Dowty said. "It can always be a bit of a rollercoaster, so our focus every tournament is to make sure we're improving from one game to the next, and we did that today. We've set a great foundationg to build on for the coming Ivy and National Championship in the weeks ahead. In the development bracket, Nicole Ihensekhien and Sarah Korb led the group expertly, bringing a confidence and clarity that led to great personal and team performances. In the competitive bracket, we would have loved to make it to the final, but we weren't clinical when we had our opportunities. We will learn from plenty of moments today and be better for it by the end of the season."
On April 16, the Green will scrimmage against Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac in 15s play. The following weekend, Dartmouth will take part in the Ivy 7s Tournament back at Harvard.
