NEWPORT, R.I. —
Brooke Hess and
Ujvala Jupalli were winners once again as the Dartmouth doubles team defeated Grace Campanella and Ava Grnja of Rhode Island in the quarterfinals of the ITHF Women's Collegiate Invitational. The duo later fell to Boston College's Laura Lopez and Maria Aguiar in the semifinal round.
Hess and Jupalli combined for Dartmouth's lone victory on the opening day of action in Newport, Rhode Island, taking down a Boston University pairing to punch their ticket to Day 2 festivities. They made the most of that opportunity Saturday morning, besting their Rhode Island counterparts 6-3 in the opening set before dominating 6-1 in the second set.
Lopez and Aguiar of Boston College claimed the first set over Hess and Jupalli, and the Big Green duo was unable to recover. Lopez and Aguiar will take on a team from Brown in tomorrow's final.
In other Dartmouth action on Saturday,
Emily Bi and
Emily Zhou defeated Rhode Island's Paulina Loredo and Nadia Rajan.
