NEWPORT, R.I. — The pairing of
Ashley Hess and
Valentina Cruz defeated a Rhode Island duo for Dartmouth's lone win Sunday at the ITHF Women's Collegiate Invitational, concluding an action-packed three days in Newport, Rhode Island.
Hess and Cruz bested Paulina Loredo and Nadia Rajan, winning both sets by a score of 6-2 for the pair's first victory of the weekend.
Brooke Hess and
Ujvala Jupalli, who started the doubles tournament with two straight wins in a run to the East Semifinals, came up just short against Boston College's Seren Agar and Muskan Mahajan despite a tough battle in the first set.
Both sets went to tiebreakers in a match that pitted
Emily Zhou and
Emily Bi against Boston University's Nina Gulbransen and Sydney Sharma, but the Terriers pairing emerged victorious in both.
Next up for Dartmouth is the ITA Regional Championships, which the Big Green will host at Thompson Outdoor Courts beginning Friday, Sept. 30.
