HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth forward
David Alino was named the Ivy League Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The senior scored four goals against Stonehill to lead the Big Green to a 6-0 victory on Sept. 24.
The Stratford, Conn. native became the first Dartmouth men's soccer player to score four goals in a game in just under 67 years. Alino set the tone for the Big Green to claim their first home victory of the season.
"We are very happy for
David Alino," Bobby Clark Head Coach of Men's Soccer
Bo Oshoniyi said. "It's always great when the team can score six goals and keep a shutout in a match. For David to have such a special performance was great to see!"
Alino made the most of his 37 minutes of action on Saturday, registering five shots on goal. His final three goals were scored in 5:03 of play in the second half. He now is tied for the most goals of any player in the Ivy League and his average of 1.00 goals per game leads the conference.
His performance against Stonehill ranks first in the conference for points in a single match (8) and goals. Alino is one of just three players in Division I to score four goals in a match thus far this season.
Dartmouth is back in action this Saturday, Oct. 1, for its first Ivy League contest against the Princeton Tigers. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. and the match will be streamed on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet internationally.
Notes: Alino is Dartmouth men's soccer's second Ivy League Player of the Week this season. Sophomore goalkeeper
Costi Christodoulou earned POTW honors on Sept. 2. He is the first non-goalkeeper to earn the award since Zach Kalk on Sept. 16, 2019.
