Dartmouth Captures Season Opener at Rochester, 5-2

The Big Green won positions seven through nine, which proved critical

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The 10th ranked Dartmouth men's squash team opened its season on Monday with a 5-4 win at No. 18 Rochester. The Yellow Jackets won the first three positions, but the Big Green captured five-of-six between positions four and nine to come out with back-to-back season-opening wins for the first time since 2017-18.

At No. 5, junior Quintin Campbell swept Alejandro Porras Diaz while three other Dartmouth wins were 3-1 — senior David Rubin at No. 4, sophomore Felix Feldman at No. 7 and sophomore Rana Thakkar at No. 9.

First year Callan Venkatesan picked up a hard-fought and critical 3-2 victory at No. 8. The Yellow Jackets' Tom Whiteley had a match ball in the fourth game leading 11-10, but Venkatesan won three straight points to stay alive before winning in five.

"I'm happy to get our season off to a winning start," said Vikram Malhotra, Douglas A. Donoahue Jr. 1973 Head Coach of Men's and Women's Squash. "It's a match we've been looking forward to; I'm happy that the team stepped up and we got the win. A lot of work is still to be done. We're excited where we are and we're looking forward to continuing to build and see how the season unfolds."

Sophomore Warren Klein also picked up a 3-0 win in an exhibition.

The Big Green return to the court on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Harvard. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
