HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team hits the road for its final two games of the 2022-23 season. The Big Green take on the No. 2/2 Yale Bulldogs Friday, February 17 before a season-ending matchup with the Brown Bears the following day. Dartmouth looks to close out the season on a high note with two ECAC Hockey victories.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth last took the ice for its last two home games of the season. The Big Green faced off with two conference opponents, St. Lawrence and then-No. 9/10 Clarkson, at Thompson Arena to close out a four-game homestand.
The Big Green were overpowered against St. Lawrence in the first game of the weekend, dropping a 7-3 decision to the Saints. Dartmouth took a 2-0 lead early in the second, but seven unanswered goals from St. Lawrence sealed the Big Green's fate.
CC Bowlby scored twice against the Saints and now leads the Big Green in goals (10), assists (9) and points (19). Her performance against St. Lawrence marked her third multi-goal game of the 2022-23 season.
Clarkson opened Saturday's game against the Big Green with a three-goal opening period. Dartmouth was unable to respond as the Golden Knights skated to a 4-0 victory following another goal in the second period.
ROAD WARRIORS
The Big Green have seen most of their success this season in road matchups. Dartmouth has recorded six of its seven wins outside of Hanover and hold a 6-8 record on the road heading into the weekend.
Dartmouth's lone win over a ranked opponent this year took place in Ithaca, New York, as the Big Green knocked off then-No. 10 Cornell in ECAC Hockey action. This win marked the program's first road victory over a ranked opponent since February 14, 2015.
The Big Green were especially impressive in non-conference action on the road, compiling a record of 4-1. This was highlighted by an overtime win over Merrimack, fueled by a game-winning goal from
Annie King on December 7, 2022.
SCOUTING YALE
Yale enters this Friday's contest with a record of 24-2-1 and an ECAC Hockey mark of 17-2-1. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 2 in both national women's hockey polls and are 11-1-0 at home.
The Bulldogs two losses both came against the Colgate Raiders. Yale was unable to avoid a season sweep last weekend, as Colgate handed the Bulldogs their first road loss of the year last weekend by a score of 5-3.
Elle Hartje leads the Bulldogs with 37 points in just 27 games and rides a 14-game point streak into Friday's matchup against Dartmouth.
Pia Dukaric has led her team between the pipes, as she has started all 27 games for Dartmouth. The sophomore netminder holds a save percentage of .940 and a goals against average of 1.32.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
Dartmouth holds a commanding 71-17-3 record against Yale in the all-time series.
Despite Dartmouth's historical dominance over Yale, the Bulldogs have seen success in recent contests. The Big Green have gone 1-9-0 in their last 10 matchups against Yale and were defeated by the Bulldogs, 4-1, on October 28, 2022.
The Big Green look to secure their first win over Yale since February 18, 2017.
SCOUTING BROWN
Brown holds a record of 8-18-1, with a conference record of 6-14-0. The Bears, like Dartmouth, have been eliminated from ECAC Hockey Tournament contention and close out their season with Saturday's matchup with the Big Green.
The Bears hold a record of 2-9-1 at Meehan Auditorium and have won just one conference game at home this season.
Freshman Jade Iginla leads the Bears with 21 points in 27 games. Junior goaltender Kaley Doyle has started 21 games for Brown and holds a save percentage of .915 and a goals against average of 2.57.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BEARS
Dartmouth holds a 48-33-12 advantage in the all-time series against Brown.
Brown picked up a win in the first meeting of the season between these teams. Dartmouth outshot the Bears, 31-22, but could not generate enough offense to secure the win, falling by a score of 2-1.
The Bears hold a slim 4-3-3 in the last 10 meetings of the programs, dating back to the 2016-17 season.
