HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's squash team closes its season at the 2023 College Squash Association (CSA) National Collegiate Men's Team Championships. The Big Green look to end the 2022-23 season on a high note as the program travels to Hartford, Connecticut to vie for the Hoehn Cup.
Â
The Big Green enter the Hoehn Cup tournament on a two-match win streak to close out the regular season. Dartmouth knocked off Williams and Brown on the road in its final two matches before the team championships in dominant fashion, as the Big Green defeated their opponents by a combined result of 15-3.
Â
Dartmouth has seen most of its success outside of Hanover, which bodes well for the team championships. The Big Green hold a record of 5-3 on the road, which includes wins over No. 14 Williams and No. 15 Tufts.
Â
The Big Green will finish the season in the Hoehn Division, which features the No. 9-16 ranked programs in the nation. Dartmouth holds a 3-1 record over teams in its division, with wins over No. 13 Rochester, Williams and Tufts and a loss to No. 9 Columbia.
Â
A familiar opponent greets the Big Green in the first round of the tournament, as Dartmouth faces off with the Tufts Jumbos for the second time this season. The Big Green knocked off the Jumbos, 6-3 in their first meeting, which took place in Medford, Mass. on Dec. 4.
Jack Bell,
Lucan White,
Auggie Bhavsar and
David Rubin secured 3-0 sweeps against Tufts to lead their team to victory. A matchup against the winner of Chatham and Williams would await Dartmouth in the semifinals.
Â
The Big Green will lean on their veteran leadership throughout the team championships. Last season,
Mac Aube went 3-0 in Dartmouth's matches in the Hoehn Cup tournament, including a win in Dartmouth's defeat against No. 9 Cornell. Bell, White, Rubin,
Christian Shah and
Quintin Campbell each recorded a pair of wins in Dartmouth's matches in the 2022 postseason.
Â
The program looks to capture its first Hoehn Cup since 2017, when the ninth-ranked Big Green defeated Franklin & Marshall, George Washington and Princeton to sweep the tournament. Dartmouth toppled Princeton, 7-2, in the final round of the tournament that season, and looks to replicate that success to earn a postseason championship this year.
