SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Competing for the first time since early November, the Dartmouth equestrian team traveled to Virginia for a pair of meets on Friday, falling at Lynchburg (8-1) and Sweet Briar (9-1). Facing the top two teams in this week's single-discipline team rankings, there were a number of bright spots and strong performances for the Big Green.
Against Lynchburg, junior
Rachel Freer picked up the Big Green's point in fences, this coming in her first competition of the school year. Freer jumped Lynchburg's horse, Rain, earning a score of 83 to best her opponent by six points. Sophomore
Chloe Terestchenko finished with a score of 84 in fences, ending in a draw against Lynchburg's Emma Schweizer.
In the afternoon, Terestchenko recorded the Big Green's team point on fences on Sweet Briar's Phantom, earning a score of 77 compared to the Vixens' score of 65. Additionally, senior
Lona Girardin picked up an exhibition fences point aboard Lynchburg's Ziggy with a score of 70.
"We had strong rides in each meet, especially in the jumping," said Dartmouth head coach
Tenley Walsh. "Many of our matchups were close. It's been a great first trip coming out of winter training and having the opportunity to compete outdoors."

The Big Green team will return to Virginia to compete at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 23-25, hosted at Lynchburg. Â
