HANOVER, N.H. —
Ariana Ramsey and
Kristin Bitter of the Dartmouth women's rugby team were among the 17 athletes named as nominees for the MA Sorensen Award, given to the nation's top collegiate women's rugby player.
The Big Green could be in line to have their second straight MA Sorensen Award winner, and third in the last five seasons.
Idia Ihensekhien '21 was last year's recipient and
Emily Henrich '22 was Dartmouth's first honoree in 2019.
Ramsey, a fifth-year senior from Philadelphia, was one of Dartmouth's eight All-NIRA First XV honorees and led the team with 11 tries in just five games, including two to guide the Big Green to a win over Harvard in the 2022 NIRA final. She is the program's first-ever Olympian and will once again don the red, white and blue at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Bitter, a San Diego native, was another All-NIRA First XV member and tallied a team-high 96 points, including 33 conversions as a senior. In March, she was selected to the USA Women's Eagles roster for the 2023 Pacific Four Series.
The list of nominees will be narrowed down to a smaller group of finalists before the winner receives the trophy in June at a gala event in Seattle.
