HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth Athletics and Recreation Department announced today that Gilad Doron has stepped down as head coach of women's volleyball to pursue other professional opportunities and take some time to spend with his aging mother in his native Israel.
Â
Doron was appointed in 2016 as the third head coach of the program, which became a fully funded varsity sport in 1994. During Coach Doron's leadership, the program was recognized with eight All-Ivy League selections, six Academic All-District players and seven Academic All-Ivy players. In addition, his team was recognized with six consecutive AVCA Team Academic Awards and two of his student-athletes, Zoe Leonard '19 and Tola Akinwumi '21, were honored with the Dartmouth Senior Legacy Award.
Â
Doron ends his tenure with an overall record of 70-76 and 32-50 in the Ivy League. This past fall, he guided the team to a berth in the inaugural four-team Ivy League Volleyball Tournament.
Â
A national search for the program's next head coach will start immediately.
