HANOVER, N.H. — Justin DeSanto, Dartmouth's John Kenfield and Chuck Kinyon Head Coach of Men's Tennis, has announced the hiring of Ben Beekman as an assistant coach. Beekman spent the 2022-23 season on the women's tennis coaching staff at Notre Dame and helped the Fighting Irish achieve their first NCAA Tournament victory since 2017.
"I am honored and excited to have Ben join our staff here at Dartmouth," DeSanto said. "Throughout the interview process, Ben's passion for our sport and more importantly, for being a college coach, was second-to-none. Ben made it clear he is willing to put in the long hours each day to assist me in elevating Dartmouth back to the top of the Ivy League.
"Additionally, his former student-athletes spoke highly of him as an elite coach and a person. I know Ben will have an immediate impact on our team and community when he arrives here in the Upper Valley."
The Notre Dame women's tennis team posted a 16-11 record, the team's best since 2016-17, with Beekman serving as a volunteer assistant coach in 2022-23. The Fighting Irish went on to defeat MAC champion Ball State, 4-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Notre Dame ranked as high as No. 14 in the ITA national rankings, which was the program's highest standing since 2010.
Beekman was previously a graduate assistant for the Youngstown State men's tennis team and helped the Penguins win their first-ever Horizon League regular season and tournament championships in 2021-22.
A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Beekman received his bachelor's degree in business administration in 2021 from Holy Cross College (Ind.), where he was a member of the men's tennis team. He went on to earn his master's in business administration from Youngstown State in 2022.
