HANOVER, N.H. — Casey Ratzlaff, Dartmouth men's tennis' volunteer assistant coach, is set to compete in the US Open over the course of the weekend and the coming week. Ratzlaff is currently the No. 1 wheelchair tennis player in the United States and ranks 15th in the world, per the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Rankings.
Ratzlaff has competed at the US Open, which takes place in Flushing, New York, each year since 2020. He has also appeared in the French Open, Australian Open and even took part in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. The Wichita, Kansas native hopes to appear on the global stage again during the Paris 2024 games.
Ratzlaff recently joined the Big Green's coaching staff under Justin DeSanto, who has been his coach for six years. Ratzlaff attended Wichita State, where DeSanto was an assistant coach for five seasons prior to his arrival at UAB, where the two would coach together for two seasons before coming to Dartmouth.
"Having Casey on board is a big honor for our program," DeSanto said. "He is a world-class tennis athlete and I am happy he has decided to continue our relationship working together on his own game, along with our student-athletes, here at Dartmouth."
Fans can watch Ratzlaff battle other premier wheelchair tennis athletes on ESPN+ throughout the US Open.
