HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's squash team started its play this week with a dominant 9-0 victory over Williams College at the Berry Squash Courts Wednesday, bouncing back from two losses to ranked opponents over the weekend.
With the win, the Big Green move to 5-4 on the season while the Ephs fall to 7-7.
Dartmouth took leads early in all nine of their games as five players allowed five opponent points or less. First-year
Nathalie Taylor played at the seventh position and only allowed one opposing point in two of her three games played, defeating Deena Iqbal of Williams 3-0 (11-1, 11-8, 11-1).
At the fifth position, senior
Ellie Burke and her opponent each traded victories before Burke battled back, doubling her opponents points over the next two games to take the 3-1 victory (11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 11-3).
Senior
Emily Schuster battled in her third game at the sixth position to secure the sweep. Schuster seemed to cruise to a 2-1 lead, however Nora Brant of Williams put up a fight in the final game. Ultimately, Schuster did enough, winning the final game 12-10 to come away with the 3-0 victory (11-8, 11-5, 12-10).
The Big Green return to action this weekend when they travel to face No. 4 Penn on Saturday and No. 3 Princeton on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled to start at noon.
