CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Dartmouth men's tennis team continued the ITA New England Regional on Friday.
The doubles tournament started on Friday morning with four Dartmouth duos in action.
Miles Groom and Waleed Qadir opened the day with an 8-3 win over a duo from Colgate. They will face a team from Le Moyne on Saturday as they look to advance to the round of 16.
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez opened his tournament as Denny Bao joined him for doubles. They dominated a Marist duo as the Dartmouth duo won 8-1. They face a team from Boston College on Saturday morning.
Alex Knox-Jones and Leo Pade picked up the third doubles win for the Big Green in doubles. They face a team from Colgate and won 8-3 to move to face a team from Boston College.
Hikaru Takeda and Yujiro Onuma fell 8-2 in the opening doubles round. They fell to a team from Brown.
In singles action, Zihao Yuan opened the main draw with a two set win over Augustin Damonte from Marist. Yuan won the first set 6-0 and completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in the second set. He faces Masato Perera from Harvard on Saturday.
Knox-Jones rebounded after dropping the opening set of singles 6-4. He won the second set 6-4 and then completed the comeback with a 6-2 win in the third set. He'll face Eric Lie of Yale in the second round.
Guerrero-Alvarez started his singles run with a two set win. He won the opening set 6-3 and secured the sweep with a 6-2 second set win. In his second round match he'll face Marc Ktiri of Harvard.
Onuma also won his first round singles match. He won the first set 6-3 and then advanced with a 7-6 win in the second set. He faces Nathan Mao of Cornell on Saturday.
Qadir, Takeda, and Groom fell in the opening round of the main draw on Friday.
Dartmouth is back on the court on Saturday as the ITA New England Regional continues at Harvard.
