MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The Dartmouth ski team wrapped up the Middlebury Carnival and EISA Championship by seeing individuals win three of the four events held on day two Saturday. Senior
Olivia Holm won the women's giant slalom, sophomore
Ava Thurston captured the 20K women's classic mass start and junior
John Steel Hagenbuch won the same for the men.
Holm's victory marked the first of her career. She finished with a total time of 2:02.67, beginning with the fastest run of 59.37 seconds before finishing her second run in 1:03.30, which was third fastest.
Sophomore
Oscar Zimmer was Dartmouth's top finisher in the men's giant slalom, coming in sixth with a total time of 1:57.47. Junior
Oliver Morgan was two spots behind in eighth (1:57.62).
Thurston finished the 20K women's classic mass start in 57:51.5 for her first event victory of the season (and fourth of her career). Teammate, junior
Tatum Witter also came in the top 10, placing ninth (59:18.5).
Meanwhile, Hagenbuch finished off a flawless weekend, winning both Nordic events over the two days. After winning the 7.5K skate Friday, his time of 50:03.1 in Saturday's men's 20k classic was first by just over a second ahead of Harvard's Remi Drolet. It was Hagenbuch's sixth win of the year, especially impressive considering he was away competing in the U23 World Championships in Slovenia.
Sophomore
Jack Lange narrowly missed the podium of the men's 20k classic, placing fourth (50:34.0), while junior
Luke Allan came in fifth (50:37.9) and fifth-year
Cameron Wolfe finished 10th (51:03.5). Like on day one, the men's Nordic team picked up the most points on day two, 23 more than Vermont.
The Big Green now prepare for the NCAA Championships, which are set to begin on Wednesday, Mar. 6 in Steamboat Springs, Colo.
