LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Despite getting out to an early lead, the Big Green came from behind twice to defeat the LMU Lions, 10-8.
With the win, the Big Green move to 2-7 overall, collecting their second win of the West Coast road trip, while the LIons fall to 10-8.
The Big Green opened the scoring in the third inning, getting out to a 1-0 lead when a Max Zajec single scored Eliot Krewson. They extended their lead in the next inning when Jackson Hower knocked a double to score Nathan Cmeyla, and Krewson singled to score Hower.
LMU battled back though, scoring five runs in their half of the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead. The Big Green were able to immediately respond though, tying the game in the next half inning when Ethan Brown doubled to score Cmeyla and Kolton Freeman.
While the Big Green held the Lions off the board in the fifth inning, they added two in their half of the sixth inning, to retake the two run lead, up 7-5 headed into the final three innings.
The Big Green began to chip away in the seventh, scoring one run. They added three in the eighth and one in the ninth, including a two run single by Zajec in the eigtht inning to continue his strong performance at the plate and secure the 10-8 victory for the Big Green.
Devin Milberg made the start on the mound for the Big Green, pitching four innings. Mac Burke came in in relief and collected the win, giving up two runs over three innings. Jack Metzger secured the save allowing only one run on three hits over two innings.
Dartmouth and LMU will wrap up the series tomorrow with the Big Green looking for their second straight win and third win on the trip. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST.
