HANOVER, N.H. — The Big Green earned the doubles point and cruised to the point of clinching in singles during Friday afternoon's 6-1 victory over Brown, which marked Dartmouth's first Ivy League victory of the season, along with the first under John Kenfield and Chuck Kinyon Head Coach
Justin DeSanto.
Friday's win was Dartmouth's 13th straight over Brown, dating back to the 2014 season.
Miles Groom and
Waleed Qadir clinched the doubles point with a clutch 6-4 victory on Court 3 after the Big Green and the Bears traded the first two finished matches.
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez and
Hikaru Takeda were victorious at the No. 1 position.
Groom would go on to give Dartmouth a 4-0 advantage, clinching the first Ivy win at No. 2 singles with a two-set win over Brown's Noah Hernandez.
Henry Ren won the first completed singles match on Court 1 and
Yujiro Onuma followed on Court 4, running the score to 3-0 and setting the stage for Groom to clinch.
With the match already decided,
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez won a three-setter on Court 3 and
Alex Knox-Jones claimed a lengthy two-setter on 5. Brown's Alex Koong earned a narrow victory over
Logan Chang at No. 6 for the Bears' lone point.
Dartmouth hits the road to visit Yale on Sunday, April 7. After a three-game road stretch, the Big Green are back in Hanover on Saturday, April 20 to host Princeton.
