HANOVER, N.H. — The College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) recently announced its Men's Tennis Academic All-District Teams and Dartmouth's
Alex Knox-Jones,
Miles Groom,
Waleed Qadir and
Henry Ren were each included.
2024's iteration marked the second Academic All-District honor for Knox-Jones, who was tabbed as a sophomore following the 2023 season.
To be considered, student-athletes (sophomores and up) must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5, along with a match participation requirement.
Knox-Jones, a junior economics and astronomy major, was among the team's winningest singles players during the 2024 season with an 11-8 record with action on Courts 5 and 6. He earned back-to-back victories early in Ivy League play, including one that helped the Big Green pick up a 6-1 win over Brown. In doubles, he was featured at, or near, the top of the lineup with Ren through the majority of the season.
Cementing himself as a key player for the Big Green as a sophomore, Groom put up a team-best 12-7 singles record and worked his way up in the lineup, starting the season at the No. 4 position, and playing as high as No. 2 during Ivy League play. It wasn't until Dartmouth's 10th match of the season that Groom suffered his first lost, and he also enjoyed a four-match win streak during the last half of the non-conference slate.
Groom and fellow sophomore and Academic All-District winner Qadir were 11-4 as doubles partners, including a 9-3 mark at the No. 3 position. The two compiled a winning record during Ivy League play.
Ren became a fixture at the No. 1 singles position by the season's end and earned a win on the top court during Dartmouth's Ivy League victory over Brown. The sophomore, along with Knox-Jones, was also looked to at the top of the doubles lineup for much of the season.
