CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – The Dartmouth women's tennis team traveled to Cambridge for the Ivy Invitational on Friday, hosted by Harvard. The Big Green participated through Sunday, partaking in singles and doubles play.
Day One
Lauren Han opened singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 straight set over Yale's Julia Werdiger, followed behind with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Columbia's Sophia Wang for Alex Orlins, putting them both in the second round.
Orlins continued her success, defeating Cornell's Michelle Ryndin with a 7-6(5), 6-3, 10-6 battle. Han handed a loss to Penn's Elizabeth Tkachenko with a 7-6(4), 6-4 final score. Both players advanced to the quarterfinals scheduled for the following day.
As for doubles play, Grosjean and Lombardi took on Cornell's Martinez/Ryndin, but fell in a close 8-6 match. Hess and Wong faced Penn's Hess/Wong, but were defeated 8-2.
Day Two
In the quarterfinals, Orlins earned a strong straight-set victory over Brown's Ali Maguy, 6-3, 6-4, advancing to the semifinals. Han battled in a tight matchup against Harvard's Charlotte Owensby, ultimately falling 7-6(5), 6-4. In back draw action, Valentina Cruz was defeated by Brown's Anne Yang, 6-0, 6-0, while Brooke Hess dropped her match to Columbia's Emily Beak, 6-2, 6-1.
Day Three
Orlins fought hard against Shyla Aggarwal, but ultimately closed out the weekend with a 6-4, 7-5 loss.
The Big Green will host their final home event of the fall, the Big Green Invite, from Nov. 7-9.
