NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Despite opening the scoring and holding a 1-0 lead, the Big Green allowed five goals, ultimately falling to the Yale Bulldogs, 5-2.
Dartmouth began the game against Yale outshooting the Bulldogs, 5-0. A power play opportunity gave Yale an advantage in shots on goal, but it was the Big Green that were able to find the back of the net first.
Laura Fuoco sent the puck to
Lauren Messier whose pass went off a Yale skate ad into the back of the net, giving the Big Green the one goal lead.
Just under four minutes later, Yale pulled even, sending the game to the middle frame tied at one.
The offensive momentum swung Yale's way in the second period, as they scored two goals, both in the second half of the period. Despite the two goals, the Big Green and Bulldogs combined for only ten shots on goal.
In the third period, Yale found the back of the net twice again, extending their lead to four goals. It wasn't until the second half of the period the Big Green started to gain momentum. Dartmouth had two power play opportunities and while unsuccessful, they were able to score an even strength goal to make the score 5-2.
Kenzie Bachelor picked up the puck off a faceoff, skated right towards the goal line, and ripped a tough angle show above the goaltender to pull the Big Green within three.
Dartmouth did draw a five-minute major penalty with under a minute to play, but were not able to generate any chances as the Big Green fell to the Bulldogs, 5-2.
Michaela Hesová made 22 saves in the loss, including 15 in the first period to at the time, keep it a tie game.

Maura Crowell noted that her goaltender was under a lot of pressure, especially in the first period and said, "We have to be tighter in our defensive zone. We have to have more grit around our offensive slot area where we can score goals and convert."
"A challenging game for us tonight. We're going to learn from it and get better for tomorrow," Crowell added.
Saturday's game will be the Big Green's final regular season road game of the season as they play the Brown Bears. While the last regular season road game, Crowell emphasized that every game is important, especially at this time of the season.
"Every game we play is important. We're trying to get ECAC Points every time we play," Crowell said. "We're trying to get better every time we play. So we have to learn from some of these tough ones and bounce back because Brown's a good team and I'm sure they're going to want to win on home ice."
