PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Dartmouth women's hockey headed to Meehan Auditorium Saturday, facing the Brown Bears for their final regular season road contest of the year.
The Big Green surrendered three goals in the first period and were unable to chip away, ultimately falling to the Bears, 3-0.
While the Big Green were outshot 10-5 in the first period, Head Coach
Maura Crowell said her team got back to their identity in the second and third period. Despite not being able to find the back of the net, the Big Green outshot the Bears 21-14 over the final two periods.
"We got back to playing the game simple and doing things the right way… We settled in, got back to trying to win 50-50 puck battles. That's really important to us," Crowell said about her team's play through the final 40 minutes.
"It's a tough part of the season with back-to-back road trips against good teams, so trying to create some energy, just working on simple plays, working together, get up the ice and thought we did a good job in the last 40."
The Big Green's penalty kill was successful on the night, not allowing a power play goal and killing all four penalties awarded to the Bears.
In net for the Big Green, Michaela Hesová made 21saves.
With only two games left in the regular season, Crowell said the focus for her team is rest and recovery.
"I think we have more jump normally, so really want to make sure that with midterms… we're able to take care of our bodies and our minds and get that rest and recovery so we're rejuvenated and excited."
The Big Green will welcome St. Lawrence and Clarkson for the final games of the regular season next weekend at Thompson Arena. Friday's matchup with the Saints is set for 6 p.m. while Saturday's game with the Golden Knights will be at 3 p.m. Saturday will also be Dartmouth's Senior Day, with festivities happening postgame.
