HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team made history at Scully-Fahey Field with a 17-5 victory over Hobart on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Big Green extended their win streak to five, marking the program's longest streak since 2004.Â
"I'm really excited for the guys, grinding through their finals week this week and staying focused on the task at hand to get another home win," Dartmouth head coach Sean Kirwan said. "To get another home game, beautiful weather, everything that we want, and for our guys to get the job done was awesome to see."
Colin McGill scored a season-high five goals en route to the win, while Julian Navab picked up his first collegiate goal. Thomas Power, William Stahl, Hopper Zappitello, and Nate Davis each tallied two goals. Emmett Paradine, Brandon Ventarola, and Quinn Moore all had a single goal.Â
The Statesmen struck first, scoring a goal in the first five minutes of the game. Dartmouth responded with a goal of their own and then broke free with a 5-1 run, making the score 7-2 entering the second period.Â
Hobart scored two goals in the second period, each triggering a Dartmouth goal in return. The Big Green's momentum held up in the second half, keeping the Statesmen scoreless in the third period while building a 10-point lead.Â
The Statesmen scored their final goal of the game in the first 12 seconds of the fourth period, while Dartmouth went on a 3-0 run to remain undefeated at home this season.
The Big Green will open Ivy League play against No. 17 Penn next Saturday in Philadelphia, Pa.
