The Big Green will face Columbia on Sunday morning

FAIRLEE, Vt. — The Dartmouth men's heavyweight rowing team, ranked sixth in the IRCA national poll, had an impressive effort from start to finish in Saturday's first day of the Lake Morey Invitational. The Big Green began the day by sweeping racing against Syracuse, taking home the Packard Cup in the process. They then were perfect against Wisconsin in the afternoon.

The varsity eight began the day by beating Syracuse, posting a time of 5:37.6 to the Orange's 5:42.8, the win coming over a Syracuse crew that had made grand finals at the IRA National Championship last season. The victory gave Dartmouth the Packard Cup back for the first time since 2022.

The rest of the crews followed suit, with the 2V victorious (5:45.8 to 5:47.9), along with the 3V (5:49.9 to 5:54.5) and 4V (5:53.0 to 5:56.5). Dartmouth's fifth varsity eight rowed against Boston University's 4V and pulled out a slim half-second victory (6:05.7 to 6:06.2).

The afternoon session saw the Big Green face Wisconsin, with the varsity eight picking up another victory. This time, they finished in 5:43.7 to the Badgers' 5:47.5.

The second and third varsity eights each won by more than two seconds. The 2V had a time of 5:45.3 to Wisconsin's 5:58.1 while the 3V's was 5:54.8 compared to 6:03.1.

The Big Green's fourth varsity eight defeated Boston University (5:56.8 to 6:04.1) while Dartmouth's 5V put up a valiant effort, but fell to Syracuse's 4V (5:58.9 to 6:11.4).

Dartmouth wraps up the Lake More Invitational on Sunday morning when the Big Green face Ivy League foe Columbia beginning at 8 a.m.
