HANOVER, N.H. – On Tuesday, the baseball team welcomed the Boston College Eagles to Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park.
The Eagles got out to an early lead, plating runs in four innings to defeat the Big Green, 12-2. With the loss, Dartmouth falls to 5-16 ahead of eight straight road games.
Boston College got the leadoff hitter on in the first, eventually coming around to score on a double. The Eagles added two more runs on two more hits, opening a 3-0 lead.
The game stayed a three-run game until the fourth inning, when the Eagles scored five runs on five hits and three walks as they extended their lead to 8-0.
In the top of the fifth, Boston College scored three more, creating a double-digit deficit for the Big Green.
Dartmouth finally got on the board in the seventh.
Axel Riess and
Elliot Krewson led off the inning with back-to-back singles.
Camden Rush continued his hot bat for the Big Green, bringing both base runners home on a double down the right field line.
The Eagles got one back in the top of the eighth, making it a 12-2 game. Down by ten, the Big Green had one final chance to pull closer. Dartmouth did put two runners on but were unable to drive them in, falling to the Eagles.
Andrew Lombana got the start for the Big Green, allowing three runs on four hits in 2.1 innings.
Matt Carey and
Trey Sejnoha combined for the next 3.2 innings of relief, allowing eight runs on five hits.
Coming off a dominant relief performance in last week's midweek against UMass Lowell,
Jeff Lee continued to impress, allowing only one base runner in his one scoreless relief outing.
Aidan Plummer rounded out the game for the Big Green, allowing one run on one hit.
