A former farmhand in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, Tom Carlson enters his seventh season as a volunteer coach for the Big Green.

Carlson got involved with the baseball team during the 2004-05 school year, his last of three years serving as the assistant director of operations and facilities for Dartmouth athletics and recreation. He is currently the fulfillment and facilities director for King Arthur Flour.

A 1985 graduate of National University in San Diego with a degree in business administration, Carlson attended American River College in Sacramento, Calif., then signed with the Dodgers after one year of school. He spent three summers as a pitcher in the minor leagues before hanging up his spikes. After three years at Cal State Sacramento, he began working at Aerojet General Corporation as a senior cost accountant.
