Knute Kraus is in his second season as the volunteer assistant for the men's lacrosse team in 2020.
Kraus comes to Dartmouth after serving as the graduate assistant at Salisbury for two seasons. In 2017, he helped lead the Sea Gulls to a 22-1 record en route to the program's 12th National Championship, and was recognized as a member of the 2017 IMLCA DIII Coaching Staff of the Year. During his time with the Sea Gulls, the team went 42-5 and the defense allowed an average of 6.8 goals each season. Kraus assisted with the defense, ride/clears, recruiting, alumni relations, fundraising, team social medias and community engagement during his time at Salisbury.
“Continuing to grow and develop as a successful program, the addition of Knute Kraus as volunteer assistant coach brings another impactful coach onto our staff,” Callahan said. “We are very fortunate to have gained such an exceptional coach, mentor and person with his playing background and devotion to the game."
Before coaching there, Kraus played collegiately for Salisbury, where he was a member of the 2012 NCAA DIII National Championship team. During his time there, he scooped up 154 ground balls while causing 77 turnovers. In 2015, he was named first team All-American, the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year and the National Defenseman of the Year.
On Dec. 16, 2015, Kraus was selected by the Denver Outlaws with the 59th pick in the seventh round of the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Supplemental Draft.
He arrives with a master's in coaching and athletic administration and conflict analysis and dispute resolution.
