HANOVER, N.H. - Sophomore Mark Limpert tallied his team-leading third goal of the season to lift the Dartmouth men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Bradley in the first round of the adidas/Hypertherm Classic at Chase Field on Friday afternoon. In the opening game of the tournament, Central Connecticut State defeated Temple, 2-1.
After a scoreless first half, Dartmouth got on the board in the 66th minute. Freshman Brian Lappas crossed the ball to classmate Michael Ordonez who headed the ball toward the net. Limpert tapped the ball past the goalkeeper to help the Big Green earn its first victory of the season. Dartmouth now stands at 1-1-3, while Bradley falls to 4-3-0.
Dartmouth outshot the Braves, 13-6, and attempted six corners to Bradley's three. Chris Dunsheath had two saves for Bradley, while Big Green sophomore Rowan Anders made one save to pick up his first shutout of the season. He has now lowered his goals against average to a stingy 0.71 and boasts an .833 save percentage this year.
The Big Green will be in action again on Sunday, September 26 at 1:30 pm, when it hosts Temple in the final round of the adidas/Hypertherm Classic. Central Connecticut State and Bradley will play in the early game at 11:00 am.
