Women's Cross Country Places Three in Top Ten at Iona

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Dartmouth's women's cross country team took home third place out of 26 teams at the Iona Meet of Champions today, thanks in large part to a trio of runners who finished in the top ten for the Big Green.

Dartmouth finished with 124 points, just behind second-place Iona with 115 points and ahead of fourth place La Salle with 127. Cornell won the meet with 67 points, with its top competitors all finishing in a tight group between 11th and 17th places.

Dartmouth's top runner was senior Melanie Schorr (Suffield, Conn.), who placed third with a time of 21:34.6, just ahead of teammate Hilary Dionne (Cumberland, R.I.). The junior finished fourth with a time of 21:55.4.

Also placing among the leaders for the Big Green was sophomore Susan Dunklee (Barton, Vt.), who wound up in eighth with a time of 22:07.2.

Rounding out the top five for Dartmouth were freshmen Caitlin Cunningham (Simsbury, Conn.), 49th in 23:18.4, and Anna Greskovich (Pensacola, Fla.), 72nd in 23:37.6.

The team resumes action next Saturday when it travels to Keene, N.H. for the Keene State Invitational.
