ORONO, Maine - Dartmouth's men's and women's cross-country teams both had strong finishes at Maine's Murray Keatinge Invitational Saturday. Facing off against a crowded field that included nationally ranked Stanford, the Big Green men took home second place and the women third in the event.
Dartmouth sophomore Ben True (Yarmouth, Maine) took first place for the men, as the Big Green finished with 49 points, just behind No.5 Stanford. Dartmouth and Stanford split the top six times, with True winning in 23:59.10. After the Cardinal's David Vidal took second, junior Alec Wall (Portland, Ore.) placed third for Dartmouth with a time of 24:07.10 and senior Dave Burnham (Shelburne Falls, Mass.) finished sixth in 24:14.30.
Dartmouth's top five was rounded out by junior Ian Marcus (Amherst, Mass.), 17th in 24:35.40; and freshman Glenn Randall (Collbran, Colo.), 22nd in 24:52.90.
The Big Green women took home third place with 84 points behind No. 4 Stanford with 25 points and Boston College with 42. Senior Melanie Schorr (Suffield, Conn.) was the top finisher for Dartmouth, placing fifth with a time of 17:05.80. Also earning a top ten finish was junior Hilary Dionne (Cumberland, R.I.), who ended up 10th in 17:31.70.
The top five for Dartmouth also included sophomore Susan Dunklee (Barton, Vt.), tied for 11th in 17:34.30; freshman Anna Greskovich (Pensacola, Fla.), 32nd in18:52.90; and freshman Aryn Gruneisen (Erie, Pa.), 35th in 18:55.90.
