KEENE, N.H. -- The Dartmouth cross country teams split their squads on Saturday, as the second varsity runners competed at the Keene State Invitational.
The Dartmouth women were first in the seven-school field, combining for 41 points. The host Owls were second with 53.
Senior Susan Abramcyzk (Lancaster, Pa.) had Dartmouth's top finish, taking fourth in 19:29.
Rounding out the top five for the Big Green were four freshmen -- Natalie Todd-Zebel, sixth in 19:51; Kathleen Rice (Saco, Maine), seventh in 19:55; Kristin Fladseth (Santa Rosa, Calif.), 11th in 20:06; and Julie Plevin (Potomac, Md.), 13th in 20:13.
Sophomore Grant Allen (Sugar Grove, Pa.) paced the Dartmouth men to a second-place finish in the nine-team field. Allen was fourth in 26:19, as the Big Green earned 49 points. Keene State won with 31.
Freshmen completed the scoring for Dartmouth, including Vinny Olsen (Londonderry, N.H.), seventh in 26:42; Andrew Han (Madison, Wis.), 12th in 27:01; Hari Iyer (Saratoga, Calif.), 13th in 27:02; and Joe Friedman (Rochester, N.Y.), 16th in 27:20.
Next up for Dartmouth is the New England Championship at Boston's Franklin Park on Saturday, October 8.
