TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Running for the first time this season, junior Ben True (Yarmouth, Maine) was 27th for the Dartmouth men's cross country team as the Big Green competed at the NCAA Pre-Meet hosted by Indiana State.
Coming back from a leg injury, True turned in a time of 24:10.8 at the Wabash Valley Sports Center as senior teammate Steve Mucchetti (Ridgefield, Conn.) was an impressive 28th in 24:11.3.
The Big Green was 15th among the 36 schools competing in the Blue race. Colorado was first with 75 points, followed by Florida State with 141. Dartmouth combined for 416 and tied with Illinois.
Junior captain Alec Wall (Portland, Ore.) was 103rd in 24:54, and junior Harry Norton (No. Reading, Mass.) had a time of 24:59, good for 122nd.
Dartmouth's fifth runner was sophomore Pat Dooley (Durham, Conn.) who was 136th in 25:07 on the 8000 meter course.
"We beat some nationally ranked teams today," said head coach Barry Harwick, "but I wish we had some a little bit better."
Dartmouth will compete at the Mayor's Cup in Boston on Sunday, October 22, before turning its sights on defense of the Heps Championship on Friday, October 27 in New York City.
