BRONX, N.Y. – Dartmouth junior
Ben True (Yarmouth, Maine) will be making his second-consecutive trip to the NCAA National Championship after finishing third at the Northeast Regionals at Van Cortlandt Park today. The top four individual runners advance to the national meet.
True finished in 31:28.3, behind Providence's Martin Fagan, first in 30:40.7 and Iona's Mohamed Khadroui, second at 31:26.4.
The Big Green came in seventh overall at the race with 201 points, just behind Brown with 198. Iona and Providence finished first (59 points) and second (72 points), respectively, separating themselves from the pack as third place went to Syracuse at 102.
Dartmouth's second-best finisher was senior
Steve Mucchetti (Ridgefield, Conn.) who ran another solid race, coming in 13th in 32:08.5 and missing a spot in nationals by two places. Sophomore
Glenn Randall (Collbran, Colo.) took 24th in 32:36.4, while juniors Pat Dooley (Durham, Conn.) and
Harry Norton (North Reading, Mass.) were 76th (33:49.9) and 85th (34:06.3), respectively.
An All-American in 2005, True finished 32nd overall at last year's National Championship.
True will head to the National Championships, hosted by Indiana State, on Nov. 20
