At a time when some would suggest that the phrase "student-athlete" is an oxymoron, Dartmouth continues to demonstrate that excellence in academics and excellence in athletics are not mutually exclusive.
"Athletics and athletes have played and will continue to play an important part in the life of the College," said former President James Wright. "Today, athletics are an integral part of the Dartmouth experience."
In an environment that encourages a well-rounded interest in many activities--from music and art to student government and volunteer service--more than 75 percent of Dartmouth's 4,200 undergraduates participate in intercollegiate (the College has 34 varsity teams) and club sports, intramural athletics, physical education and fitness programs, and, through the Dartmouth Outing Club, a range of outdoor recreational activities.
If you're a top student-athlete interested in playing basketball for Dartmouth, here's a quick checklist of things you need to do:
Fill out our questionnaire: You can fill out our questionnaire or call the Dartmouth Women's Basketball office at (603) 646-3816 to receive a copy of our prospective student-athlete questionnaire.
Understand the eligibility guidelines: You can check NCAA eligibility guidelines and register with the NCAA clearinghouse at the official NCAA web site.
Financial Aid Net Price Calculator: You can check out our financial aid net price calculator here.
Contact Dartmouth Admissions: Formal applications to Dartmouth are processed through the college's Office of Admissions. For information on applying to Dartmouth, call (603) 646-2875. You can also download Dartmouth's application by clicking here.
Send film: Make sure you send your highlight tape to the Big Green coaching staff. Send DVD film to Dartmouth Women's Basketball, 6083 Alumni Gym, Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H. 03755. You can e-mail a link to your film to Assistant Coach Addie Micir at Addie.E.Micir@dartmouth.edu
As a high school student-athlete, you may call, write, fax or email us at any time.
This is a basketball specific rule: as college coaches, we may call/e-mail/text you on or after September 1 of your Junior Year. Leading up to that point, the recruit has to initiate calls with coaches and coaches are not allowed to return calls, e-mails, texts from the recruit or their parents.
Unofficial Visit - When you, as a prospect, visit a college campus at your own expense. There is no limit on how many times you may visit a college "unofficially."
Official Visit - When you, as a prospect, visit a college campus at the partial or total expense of the college's representative of athletics (i.e. a coach). You may only take five (5) official visits in total and never more than one (1) to the same school.
