Senior Jeff Wilkerson (Walnut Creek, Calif.) struck out a season high six batters while second baseman Jason McManis (Flower Mound, Texas) had a pair of hits as Dartmouth claimed a 4-1 win today over the Fairfield Stags.

Wilkerson (1-1) threw the Big Green's first complete game of the year, allowing just six hits in the victory. He was aided by a flawless performance by the Big Green defense, as Dartmouth did not commit an error while turning a pair of double plays to aide the senior.

Dartmouth scored solo runs in each of the third and fourth innings. In the third, Jason Blydell (Nahant, Mass.)to right field with one out and scored one batter latter when fellow outfielder Damon Wright (Dallas, Texas) singled to right centerfield. The following inning, sophomore Ray Allen reached base on center fielder Bill Rafferty's error and would cross the plate on a ground out off the bat of Jack Monahan (Overland Park, Kan.).

At that point, the Stags (1-8) would push across their lone run of the game. Catch Mike Weiner reached base on a hit by pitch and came around to score on a single off the bat of Rafferty. That would be the final threat of the afternoon for Fairfield, as Wilkerson faced just one batter over the minimum through the final four frames of the game.

Insurance was added in the seventh inning for the Big Green. Monahan opened the inning with a walk, advanced to second base on a sacrifice, and scored when Erik Bell (Sierra Madre, Calif.) singled to right centerfield. The final run of the afternoon came in the ninth, as McManis' single to left field drove in Andrew Nacario (Carlsbad, Calif.).

Six different hitters had at least one hit in the briskly played 2 hour and 15 minute contest. Bell, who is 6 for his last 8 at the plate, singled twice in the win while fellow infielder,McManis, added two hits of his own.

Dartmouth (2-2) returns to action tomorrow when they entertain Eastern Kentucky at 10:00am.
