CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team opened the 2008-09 campaign against a pair of Ivy foes in Cornell and Harvard, falling to both.
Harvard, defending EISL Champs, defeated Dartmouth, 253-47, while Cornell won, 246-54.
Freshman John Hill (Erie, Pa.) had Dartmouth's top finish on the day when he took fifth in the 200 freestyle in 1:43.95, just .05 seconds off his personal best. Classmate Micky Ahern (Old Westbury, Conn.) took seventh in the 100 backstroke in 53.80 and eighth in the 200 back in 1:56.41.
For the veterans, senior Chris Koppel (Wilmington, Del.) was eighth in the 200 fly in 1:59.33 while classmate Kevin Ellis (Centennial, Colo.) took seventh in the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:50.13.
On the diving board, sophomore Michael Brown (Newton, Mass.) was the Big Green's top finisher, taking fifth in the 3 Meter dive with a score of 233.5.
Dartmouth is back in the pool tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 16 when it heads to Colgate.
