MILWAUKEE, Wis. ? The Dartmouth men's tennis team fell to nationally ranked Marquette University on Friday, Feb. 15, as Marquette came from behind to win the match-up 4-3. The loss brings Dartmouth to a 3-3 record this season.
The Big Green started strong, sweeping the doubles against the Golden Eagles. A shake-up of the doubles combinations from two weeks ago, including three freshman in the doubles matches, seemed to make a big difference in Dartmouth's energy level.
The singles matches started out slowly, however, with the Big Green noticeably uncomfortable in the Marquette facility. The Golden Eagles served exceptionally well on the quick courts and Dartmouth could not seem to find their groove, as Marquette won the first three singles matches to lead 3-1.
Although senior
Mark Brodie (Greensboro, N.C.) brought home the #1 singles point and freshman
Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y.) took the #5 point to tie the meet at 3-3, Marquette took the #4 spot to win overall, 4-3.
The Big Green next will travel to face Northwestern on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
