EVANSTON, Ill. ? Dartmouth men's tennis fell 4-3 on Saturday, Feb. 16, when it took on Northwestern University at the Combe Tennis Center. The loss puts the Big Green at 3-4 for the season.
Dartmouth struggled early, as Northwestern took the first two doubles sets. Although the team of
Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y.) and
David Fink (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) won their set 8-6 in the #3 spot, the damage had already been done as Northwest took the doubles team point.
Roby started off the singles matches with a point for the Green in the #5 spot. Although Northwestern proceeded to take #3 and #4 matches, Dartmouth battled back, as
Mark Brodie (Greensboro, N.C.) and
Daniel Freeman (Chatsworth, Calif.) won at #1 and #2 respectively to tie it up at three points apiece.
The last match was a battle between Northwestern's David Seyferth and Dartmouth's
W. Stephen Greif (San Antonio, Texas). Unfortunately, Seyferth took the third set to win the match and the meet for Northwestern.
The Big Green will return home on Feb. 23 to play their next match against Stony Brook University.
