SANTA BARBARA, Calif. ? Men's tennis took on the No. 69 Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara this weekend, losing in a 5-2 decision on Sunday.
The doubles team of
Mark Brodie (Greensboro, N.C.) and
Jeffrey Schechtman (Highland Park, Ill.) took the first doubles match in straight sets to start things off strongly for the Big Green. Unfortunately, UCSB took the next two doubles sets to win the team point.
Both Brodie and Schechtman were able to repeat their straight-set victory in their respective singles matches, but UCSB took the remaining four matches to grab the win.
Justin Tzou (Cupertino, Calif.) took his opponent to three sets and fought hard in the third, taking a very tight loss with a 6-5 decision on the final set.
Ari Gayer (Hollis, N.Y.) won the first of his three sets, but his opponent, UCSB's Jack Hui, bounced back to take the next two.
The Big Green will next take on Amherst this Friday, March 28, as it returns home to Boss Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
