Hanover, N.H. - Despite a big win at number one singles by senior
Mark Brodie, the Dartmouth men's tennis team (8-11, 1-4) took a 6-1 loss to Brown (13-13, 4-1), who has won two of the last three Ivy titles, today in Hanover. Four Dartmouth seniors,
Mark Brodie (Greensboro, N.C.),
Robbie Lim (Honolulu, Hawaii),
Jeffrey Schechtman (Highland Park, Ill.) and
David Steinberg (Tucson, Ariz.) saw their last home match today with great weather and a great crowd.
The all important doubles point was close, but Brown pulled it out. Serving at 4-5, Schechtman and Brodie were broken for the first time of the day and could not get it back. The number two doubles match went about the same way as Dartmouth dropped serve at 6-6 and eventually lost, 8-6. At number three, the
Curtis Roby and Ari Gayer tandem came on strong to win out at 8-6, but it was not enough to win the team point.
Brodie was on a mission dropping his Brown opponent in triumphant fashion at the number-one singles spot, 6-0, 6-0. Unfortunately,
Justin Tzou (Cupertino, Calif.) was the only other Green player to win a set.
Our next outing is at Yale at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
