HANOVER, N.H. ? After falling to Yale 5-3 in eight innings in game one, the Dartmouth baseball team rebounded with 13 runs on 17 hits to take the nightcap, 13-6, to keep its 2.5 game lead in the Red Rolfe Division.

Three different Big Green sluggers collected four hits apiece in the two games, lead by junior Michael Pagliarulo (Winchester, Mass.) who went 4-for-8 with three runs scored and four runs batted in, including a homer in game two. Sophomore Nick Santomauro (North Caldwell, N.J.) recorded four hits as well with one coming on a long ball in the first game. Senior Jason Blydell (Nahant, Mass.) had a great day at the plate with four hits, including two triples in game two.

On the mound, senior co-captain Russell Young (Cleburne, Texas) took the loss in game one, going all eight innings and scattering 12 hits and five runs, while fanning six. Freshman Jake Pruner (Triangle, Va.) got his second win of the season in the nightcap, throwing seven strong innings, giving up five runs, while striking out six.

In game one, Dartmouth got the first lead of the game on a sacrifice fly from junior Jack Monahan (Overland Park, Kan.) that scored Pagliarulo for the game's first run. Yale came right back with two in the fourth on a two-run homer by Andy Megee to make it 2-1 Yale.

The Bulldogs added another in the following inning, but Santomauro tied the game with two-run opposite field blast to knot the game at 3-3.

The two teams came up empty in the next two frames, but Yale took the lead at 5-3 with another two-run homer, this time from Andrew Moore. Dartmouth couldn't cross the plate in the bottom of the inning, so Yale took game one by the score of 5-3.

In game two, Dartmouth came ready to play and rebounded nicely with a 13-6 victory over the Bulldogs.

Yale, however, took the first lead of the game in the top of the first on a double to right center that scored two, to give the Bulldogs the early 2-0 advantage. Yale added its third run of the game in the second to push the lead to 3-0.

Then Dartmouth exploded for five runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a two-run single through the right side from Pagliarulo. Blydell led off with one of his two triples in the nightcap. He then scored on an RBI single from Monahan to plate Dartmouth's first run. After a fielder's choice, senior Erik Bell (Sierra Madre, Calif.) and freshman Jeff Onstott (Houston, Texas) connected on back-to-back, including a run-scoring single from Onstott. Pagliarulo then stepped to the plate and single home two runs to make it 5-3.

The Big Green added another in the third on an RBI single from Bell. Dartmouth then really broke the game open with six spot in the fourth to extend the lead to 12-4. Five different Big Green players recorded RBIs, including Blydell, who collected his second triple of the game to score two.

Yale added one in the fifth inning on a homer by Jake Doyle and one run in the ninth, but Pagliarulo slammed his fifth homer of the season in the seventh to end the scoring for the Big Green. Dartmouth earned the split with the 13-6 victory.

The two teams will be doing battle once again tomorrow afternoon with the first pitch coming at 12 p.m. from Red Rolfe Field.
