HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth sophomore
Brittney Smith (Fort Worth, Texas) has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week after helping the Big Green defeat instate rival New Hampshire.
Smith shared this week's honor with Brown junior guard Courtney Lee, who helped the Bears defeat Yale.
In a true team effort, Smith was key on offense and defense with 12 points, eight rebounds and six steals in the Big Green's 62-49 victory at New Hampshire. Smith tied for top scoring and rebounding honors with senior
Darcy Rose (Fort Collins, Colo.) in a balanced offensive outing for Dartmouth, pouring in her 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
The difference maker and perhaps most impressive stat, however, was Smith's defensive effort, grabbing a career-high six steals along with a block as part of Dartmouth's stifling defensive effort. She helped hold New Hampshire to just 29 percent shooting from the floor as well.
The Big Green (5-9, 1-0 Ivy) is back in action this Saturday when it heads to Bryant for a 1 p.m. start in its final non-conference game of the season.
