Hanover, N.H. - The Bears of Brown defeated the Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team in its home-opener this afternoon at Karl Michael Pool.
Brown won with a score of 203.5 to 96.5.
Erica Serpico (Moorestown, N.J.) had a solid day on the diving boards, winning the one meter with a score of 266.25 and the three meter, scoring 299.80. Teammate Kate O'Brien (RSM, Calif.) took second in the three meter with a score of 255.40 and fourth in the one meter with 216.20 points.
Junior Virginia Selden (Birmingham, Ala.) took second in the 200 butterfly in 2:10.30 while freshman Charlotte Williams (Boca Raton, Fla.) finished fourth in 2:11.59. Caitlin Nicholson (Ithaca, N.Y.) led the Big Green with a second place finish in the 100 butterfly in 59.79 and Kelsey Pinson (Portland, Ore.) was just behind her in third in 1:00.23.
Freshman Isa Guardalabene (Albany, Calif.) finished second in the 50 freestyle in 24.87, followed by Elizabeth Kamai (Corte Madera, Calif.) in third in 25.11. Kamai was the top finisher in the 100 free in 54.78. Catherine Armstrong (Marietta, Ga.) was the top finisher in the 1000 freestyle in 11:16.02, good for fourth place. Maddie Steiner (Dallas, Texas) and Caitlin Foley (Chesapeake, Va.) took fourth and fifth in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.06 and 1:57.10, respectively. Foley finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:17.06.
Galen Barry (Wayne, Pa.) was the top Dartmouth finisher in the 200 backstroke, taking second in 2:10.75 and the 100 backstroke, taking third in a time of 1:01.03. Kamai finished third the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.63 and Caitlin Keenan (Encinitas Calif.) was fourth in 1:09.95. Keennan took third in the 200 in 2:31.70.
Guardalabene finished second in the 200 IM in 2:12.68 with Steiner in fourth in 2:14.27.
Dartmouth's team of Barry, Keenan, Pinson and Guardalabene took second in the 200 medley relay in 1:52.38. The 400 freestyle relay team of Foley, Kamai, Guardalabene and Steiner finished second in 3:38.33.
The Big Green is back in the pool on Sunday to host Colgate.
