HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team fell to Colgate at Karl Michael Pool this afternoon, 203-94.
Colgate (2-3) had a strong day in the pool, taking first in all but one event, the 100 butterfly, which Dartmouth sophomore Kelsey Pinson (Portland, Ore.) won in a time of 1:00.64.
Dartmouth (0-4) turned in second-place finishes in six events including the 50 freestyle, which Isa Guardalabene (Albany, Calif.) finished in 25.10, followed by Caitlin Foley (Chesapeake, Va.) in fourth in 25.18. Elizabeth Kamai (Corte Madera, Calif.) took second in the 100 freestyle in 54.54, followed by Maddie Steiner (Dallas, Texas) and Foley in third and fourth, respectively. Steiner was Dartmouth's second place finisher in the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.50 while Charlotte Williams (Boca Raton, Fla.) finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:18.99. Galen Barry (Wayne, Pa.) was a close second in the 400 IM in 4:43.42.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Foley, Kamai, Guardalabene and Steiner finished second in 1:38.51. In the other relay, the 200 medley, Dartmouth's top team of Barry, Caitlin Keenan (Encinitas, Calif.), Pinson and Steiner, finished third in 1:53.57.
Baarry was Dartmouth's top finisher in the 200 backstroke, taking third in 2:09.31 with Carolyn Rippe (Colleyville, Texas) taking fourth in 2:14.83. Rippe paced the Big Green in the 100 back, finishing third in 1:01.25 while Pinson was just behind her for fourth in 1:02.00. Dartmouth finished fourth in the following events: 1650 freestyle, Catherine Armstrong (Marietta, Ga.) in 18.55.47; 200 freestyle, Foley in 1:57.92; 100 breaststroke, Kamai in 1:11.40 and 200 butterfly, Virginia Selden (Birmingham, Ala.) in 2:11.36.
Erica Serpico took second in both the one and three meter diving events, with a score of 262.19 in the one meter and 248.63 in the three meter.
Dartmouth does not compete again until next year, opening 2010 at Vermont on Jan. 9 at noon.
