The Dartmouth women's tennis team started their season with a bang, defeating the Temple Owls, 7-0, this afternoon at the Boss Tennis Center.
Junior Molly Scott, the eighth-ranked player in the ITA Northeast Region, easily handled her oppponent at No. 1, winning 6-0, 6-2. Freshman Sarah Leonard won her first dual match for the Big Green, winning 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2. Senior Mary Beth Winingham also won handily at No. 3, while senior co-captain Jesse Adler needed three sets at No. 4. Back from their fall term foreign study programs in London, juniors Georgie Smyser and Ryan Reichel both won their matches at No. 5 and No. 6.
The Big Green return to action against Boston College next Saturday, Jan. 30. The match will be played at 3 p.m. at the Weymouth Tennis Club in Weymouth, Mass. The Big Green's next home match is Sunday, Jan. 31, at noon against Army.
