NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Dartmouth men's golf team played its first tournament of the spring, placing fifth out of 12 teams by shooting 303-297=600 (+48). Sophomore Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) led the Big Green squad with a six-over par 144 (72-72) in the one-day, two-round tournament.
Host Yale barely won its own tournament, besting Central Connecticut by a single stroke with a 582 (+30). But Justin Hughes of CCSU took home medalist honors at three-over par (71-70=141), two strokes ahead of Yale's Carson Weinand and Sacred Heart's Josh Salah.
Big Green freshman James Pleat (Nashua, N.H.) also finished among the top 20 with identical 74s in each round to tie for 13th at 10-over par. Junior captain Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) tied for 26th by shooting a 77-75=152 (+14), while sophomore Teddy Overton (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) tied for 39th with an 80-76=156 (+18).
