HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth played 19th-ranked Delaware on Tuesday in a neutral-site game played at Western Connecticut State. The Big Green took the lead twice in the opening quarter, but the Blue Hens battled back and won the contest, 14-11.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth enters the game at Gillette Stadium with a 4-6 record overall and a 1-2 mark in the Ivy League. Princeton and Dartmouth are in a four-way tie for fourth in the conference with Harvard and Brown. The Big Green are 1-1 in neutral-site contests this year, and have lost their last four games away from Scully-Fahey Field.
Dartmouth has seven players who have recorded double-digit points through eight games. Junior co-captain Kip Dooley (Minneapolis, Minn.) leads the team with 24 points on 10 goals and a team-high 14 assists. Sophomore Nikki Dysenchuk (Darien, Conn.) is second on the squad with 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points. Junior Drew Tunney (Greenwich, Conn.) is third with 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points. Senior captain Rhett Miller (Dallas, Texas) is fourth with 15 goals and four assists for 19 points. Freshman Jeff Perkins (Dallas, Texas) has 15 points on 12 goals and three assists, and sophomore Chris Costabile (Sykesville, Md.) has 13 points on 11 goals and two assists. Junior John DeChiaro (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) rounds out the double-digit scorers with 12 points on five goals and seven assists.
Junior Fergus Campbell (New Canaan, Conn.) has started all ten games at goalkeeper and has an 11.71 goals against average, a 4-6 record and a .502 save percentage. In 553:28 minutes, he has made 108 saves, including a game high 17 two different times.
The team is averaging 10.20 goals per game, while allowing 11.70. The Big Green take 36.9 shots per game and grab 29.20 ground balls per game.
EVERY-GAME SCORER
Dooley continued his streak of scoring in every game the Big Green has played this season. He now has 24 points on 10 goals and 14 assists. His season high was five points at Holy Cross on two goals and three assists.
Dysenchuk has scored in the last nine games after not recording a point in the season opener.
SEASON HIGHS
This past week, two different Big Green players recorded season highs in the loss at Delaware. Tunney tallied four assists, which was also a career high for the junior. The previous high by a Dartmouth player was three in a game achieved three times by three different players.
Junior Alex Del Balso (Huntington, N.Y.) also set a Big Green season high by grabbing 11 ground balls against the Blue Hens. He now has 56 on the season and 66 in his career.
LOOKING BACK
At last years New England Lacrosse Classic, the Big Green had one of its biggest wins in the 84-year history of the program in a stunning defeat of sixth-ranked Cornell by an 8-6 score. Campbell pushed aside a career-high 23 shots and Ari Sussman '10 netted four goals in the win.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton enters the game on Saturday with a 3-6 record overall and a 1-2 mark in the Ivy League. The Tigers are 1-4 at home this season and 2-2 on the road. This will be their first neutral-site game this year. Princeton has won two out of three games with the only loss coming against the top team in the country Syracuse, 7-5.
Tom Schreiber leads the team in points with 23 on 13 goals and 10 assists. Chris McBride is second with 10 goals and three assists for 13 points. Jeff Froccaro is third with eight goals and three assists for 11 points.
Tyler Fiorito has played ever minute at goalkeeper. He has 105 saves, a 7.59 goals against average, a .600 save percentage and a 3-6 record.
The Tigers are only averaging 6.89 goals per game, but only allow 7.78. Princeton takes 29.9 shots per game and is 9-for-37 in man-up situtations.
SERIES HISTORY
Dartmouth and Princeton will meet for the 58th time on Saturday. The Tigers lead the all-time series, 50-7. The series started on April 11, 1953 at Princeton. The Tigers won the game 16-5. This will be the first neutral-site game between the two schools. The Big Green last beat Princeton at home on April 26, 2008, 11-9.
