HANOVER, N.H. — Junior Fergus Campbell made 17 saves on Saturday against Princeton at Gillette Stadium, but the Tigers came out on top 8-4. It marked the fourth straight loss for the Big Green.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth returns home for the first time since March 26 when it hosts Vermont on Tuesday. The Big Green enter the game with a 4-7 record overall and a 1-3 mark in the Ivy League. Dartmouth is 1-1 at home this season.
Dartmouth has seven players who have recorded double-digit points through 11 games. Junior co-captain Kip Dooley (Minneapolis, Minn.) leads the team with 26 points on 11 goals and a team-high 15 assists. Sophomore Nikki Dysenchuk (Darien, Conn.) is second on the squad with 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points. Junior Drew Tunney (Greenwich, Conn.) is third with 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points. Senior captain Rhett Miller (Dallas, Texas) is fourth with 15 goals and four assists for 19 points. Freshman Jeff Perkins (Dallas, Texas) has 16 points on 13 goals and three assists, and sophomore Chris Costabile (Sykesville, Md.) has 13 points on 11 goals and two assists. Junior John DeChiaro (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) rounds out the double-digit scorers with 12 points on five goals and seven assists.
Campbell has started all 11 games at goalkeeper and has an 11.35 goals against average, a 4-7 record and a .521 save percentage. In 613:28 minutes, he has made 126 saves, including a game high 17 three different times.
The team is averaging 9.64 goals per game, while allowing 11.36 goals against. The Big Green take 36.1 shots per game and grab 28.73 ground balls per game. The team is 10-for-37 in man-up situations for a conversion rate of 27 percent.
EVERY-GAME SCORER
Dooley continued his streak of scoring in all 11 games the Big Green has played this season. He now has 26 points on 11 goals and 15 assists. His season high was five points at Holy Cross on two goals and three assists.
Freshman Brendan Rotanz (Westport, Conn.) has the second longest scoring streak at three games. In those games he has four points on three goals and an assist.
CONFERENCE LEADERS
Junior Alex Del Balso (Huntington, N.Y.) is leading the Ivy League in ground balls per game. The midfielder averages 5.55 ground balls per contest for a total of 61 in 11 games. Jason Noble of Cornell is second at 4.91.
Campbell is second in the league in saves per game at 11.45. Only Matt Chriss of Brown has a better average at 12.18.
TWO FROM FIFTY
Miller is just two points away from recording his fiftieth point of his career. Entering the game against the Catamounts, the midfielder has 38 goals and 10 assists for a total of 48 points. Dooley (63 career points) is the only active player with more points.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont enters Tuesday's game with a 6-6 record overall and a 1-2 mark in the America East conference. The Catamounts have played their last three games at homes with wins over Holy Cross and Albany and a loss to Hartford.
Drew Phillie leads Vermont with 35 points on 26 goals and nine assists. Geoff Worley is second on the team with 31 points on 16 goals and 15 assists. A.J. Masson is third with eight goals and a team-best 19 assists for 27 points.
David Barton has started all 12 games for the Catamounts at goalkeeper. He has played 704:15 minutes, has 117 saves, an 8.35 goals against average, a .571 save percentage and a 6-6 record.
Vermont is averaging 9.00 goals per game, allowing 8.42 goals against. The Catamounts take 32.3 shots per game and grab 23.67 ground balls per contest. Vermont is 17-for-50 in man-up situations.
SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday will be the 20th time the two schools have met in men's lacrosse. The Big Green hold a 15-4 advantage in the series. The teams first met at Vermont on May 2, 1989. The Catamounts have never won at Dartmouth. The last win in the series for Vermont was at home on March 3, 2009.
