Perfect Game USA announced its 2011
Summer Collegiate All-America Team today, and Dartmouth senior
Joe Sclafani was one of the shortstops selected for the honor. A two-time first-team All-Ivy selection out of Palm City, Fla., Sclafani finished third in the Coastal Plain League with a .375 average while smacking five homers and driving in 32 runs.
The switch-hitting Sclafani also ranked second in the CPL with a .466 on-base percentage, tied for third with three triples, fourth with a .569 slugging percentage and tied for fifth with 40 runs scored. In the field, he provided solid defense while fielding at a .945 clip and turning 11 double plays.
Last year for the Big Green, Sclafani hit .349 (sixth in the league) with a .581 slugging percentage (fourth), leading the conference in hits with 60 and triples, setting a school record with eight. Defensively Sclafani recorded the most assists in the conference with 132 and was a part of 22 double plays. In addition to earning All-Ivy honors, he also was chosen as a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Second-Team All-Star.
