LEWISBURG, PA. — The Dartmouth volleyball team swept Manhattan, 3-0, in its first game of the season on Friday at the Bucknell Tournament. The Big Green are 1-0 overall and the Jaspers fell to 1-2.
The Big Green won the match with relative ease with the only the third set decided by less than eight points. In the third, Dartmouth jumped out to a 4-0 lead and won six of the first eight points. The Jaspers cut the lead to 6-5, before the Big Green stretched the lead to 10-5 on two kills and two attack errors by the Jaspers. Once again, Manhattan closed the gap to 10-8 by winning three straight points.
Eventually Dartmouth gained a 19-14 advantage, but the Jaspers responded by winning five straight points to tie the set at 19. After two attack errors by Manhattan and an ace by sophomore Meghan Cooney (Martinez, Calif.), Dartmouth was three points away from winning the match. The Big Green pushed the lead to 24-21 and looked to end the match on the next point. The Jaspers delayed the victory after two kills, but freshman Lucia Pohlman (Mill Valley, Calif.) secured the win for Dartmouth with a kill for a 25-23 victory.
In the opening set, Manhattan took an early 4-2 lead, but the Big Green came back and cruised to a 25-17 victory. Dartmouth used the momentum from the first set to easily win the second, 25-10.

Senior Kendall Houston (Austin, Texas) tallied 28 assists to go along with 10 digs and two kills. The contest marked the first career coaching victory for coach Erin Lindsey in her first match as a head coach.
